These sturdy DIN rail mounting brackets come in handy for a wide variety of
projects where standard DIN rail is used for mounting devices. The flat mounting surface
and a variety of mounting holes make these clips versatile for mounting devices
that do not have their own DIN rail mounting clip. All of these clips are for standard 35mm DIN rail
and work with rail depths of 7.5mm or greater. These clips are sometimes known as
DIN rail mounting brackets or plates.
This clip style comes in three different widths. Please see datasheets below for dimensions.
Some clips are available with up to three different styles of fastener holes: countersunk, counterbored, and threaded inserts.
Note that the surface of the device being mounted to the DIN clip should be flat and cover the
DIN clip in order to keep the springs and latch portion of the clip securely in place.
These clips are very easily attached and detached from the DIN rail.
When on the rail, the clip "grips" the rail on both the top and bottom
lips of the rail. The solid "fixed" (non spring-loaded) tab of the clip
should rest on the top of the rail so that it bears the load. The spring-loaded tab grips the bottom of the DIN rail.
To remove the DIN clip from the rail, simply
lift upwards on the DIN clip (thereby compressing the latch springs),
pivot the top of the clip off of the rail, and then lower the clip off the rail. No screwdrivers or special tools are required.
Mounting Hole Options & Details
The following mounting hole designs are available:
Countersunk:
Non-threaded countersunk holes; use flat head screws to fasten the bracket to your device.
The mounting holes are 4mm in diameter and are designed for M4 hardware.
However, the holes also allow up to a #8 machine screw or a #6 sheet metal screw to pass through (a #8 sheet metal screw will
NOT pass cleanly through the holes, although a #8 machine screw does fit).
The countersunk holes are available for all bracket widths (p/n DINM12-RC, DINM13-RC, DINM15-RC, DINM15V2-RC).
Counterbored:
Non-threaded counterbored holes; use pan head screws or similar to fasten the bracket to your device.
The mounting holes are 3.6mm in diameter and can be used with M3, M3.5, or #6 machine screws. #6 sheet metal screws will also typically
fit through, but in some cases may be a slightly snug fit.
Another useful hardware option is to use plastic push/snap rivets; they assemble quickly and easily.
The counterbored holes are currently available for the 20mm width only (p/n DINM12CB-RC).
Threaded Inserts
Brass threaded inserts in the bracket allow screwing into the bracket when mounting your device.
The threads are size M4 x 0.7mm.
The threaded inserts are currently available for the 20mm and 48mm widths (p/n DINM12TH-RC, DINM15V2TH-RC).
Mounting Hardware
Winford Engineering offers mounting screws, washers, and nuts for use with some of these DIN brackets.
This hardware is RoHS Compliant and affordably priced.
See the Pricing and Ordering tables below or our Hardware section for hardware pricing and options.
DINM15 / DINM15V2 Distinction
The DINM15-RC and DINM15V2-RC clips are very similar to each other. The difference is a slight change in mounting hole locations.
The DINM15V2-RC is the newer model and is recommended for new applications, but the DINM15-RC is still available for legacy
designs. We will continue to stock both part numbers. For details of the differences between these
parts, please reference the data sheets below.
A small notch on one end of the DINM15-RC makes it easily distinguishable from the similar DINM15V2-RC clip.
We offer mounting hardware compatible with clips with the countersunk holes (DINM12-RC, DINM13-RC, DINM15-RC, & DINM15V2-RC);
the 7/16" or 1/2" screw length is recommended for mounting to 0.062" panel or PCBs using nuts.
We also offer metric M4 hardware compatible with the threaded insert clips, or able to pass through the versions with unthreaded holes.
