General Description
Use these DIN rail mount 4-square boxes for quickly attaching electrical devices to a standard 35mm DIN rail. These can be used for installation of outlets, switches, or wire junction space for use in your electrical cabinet. These electrical enclosures come standard with both 1/2" and 3/4" size knockouts. The boxes also include a threaded ground screw hole. Any standard 4" square plate (e.g. mud rings, outlet covers, switch plates) can be mounted using the included screws.
Note: This is similar in size to a 2-gang box, but is not the same thing as a 2-gang box because it does not have built-in device-mounting holes. However, it is often used as a 2-gang box by adding a 2-gang mud ring / adapter plate available at most electrical or home improvement suppliers. 1-gang mud rings, plates, and covers are also commonly available.
The box comes with a sturdy steel DIN rail bracket (part# DINM21) installed. The DIN brackets may be purchased alone if you desire the bracket without the enclosure.

Mounting Your Devices
To mount your electrical devices, simply attach them to the electrical box using a mud ring or cover plate (not included).
Installing and Removing the Enclosure Assembly
These DIN rail enclosure assemblies are easily attached and detached from the DIN rail. When on the rail, the bracket latches to the rail on both the top and bottom lips of the rail. The bracket should be oriented such that the "fixed" (non spring-loaded) end of the bracket mounts to the top of the DIN rail, thus allowing the fixed end to bear the load. The spring-loaded sliding hooks will then grip the bottom of the DIN rail. This arrangement provides the greatest rigidity and load capacity.
There are two methods for removing the enclosure from the DIN rail:
- Push & Pivot: In most cases, the simplest method is to push up on the assembly, pivot the top out away from the rail, and lower the entire assembly off the rail. This technique does not require access to the release handle on the bracket which makes this method easier.
- Release Handle: If, for some reason, the Push & Pivot method does not work for your application, you can also remove the enclosures from a DIN rail using the release handle on the bracket. Either pull the handle from the bottom edge of the bracket, or push the handle down from the top edge of the bracket. This releases the sliding hooks that grip the bottom of the rail and allows the bottom edge of the bracket to swing out away from the DIN rail. The entire enclosure and your mounted device can then be lifted off the DIN rail.
